Frost Boar
Art by scott yao
“They came from the snow in droves!”
Location: Tundras, anywhere covered in Snow
Rarity: Uncommon
Physiology
A rather dangerous animal that looks similar to the average boar, when it comes to size and shape, with a few odd exceptions. The hair of these animals is always a snowy white, making it easy for them to blend in with their natural surroundings. In addition to this, their hide, and any other externally seen part of them, is also a pale white. The eyes of frost boars are always a light blue and their tusks are seemingly made of ice.The blood of a frost boar keeps them chilled completely as they don’t require heat to survive, quite the opposite actually. Their cool blood flows where a normal boar’s tusks would be, chilling the moisture in the air until it transforms into ice that’s permanently frozen. While they grow, this ice grows with them, meaning that older boars have larger tusks. It’s even thought that some boars will die due to their tusks growing so much they pierce their own skull.
Behavior
Frost Boars are known for traveling in packs of no less than three in order to hunt for prey. They are rather intelligent and oftentimes attempt to ambush their prey by hiding in the snow. It is especially easy for them as they hide the imprint their hooves make on the snow. Sometimes, however, they have been known to intentionally mark snow to draw in smaller predators. Though, this is only seen when they are especially hungry. These boars mark the trees of their territory by slamming their tusks into trees, should there be any around. If not, then they will let their hoof marks be seen in the snow to create parts of a circle. These creatures stick to Tundras and Arctic regions, though those on the edge of the regions have been known to travel after large winter storms. Due to their cold interiors, Frost Boars all have a general fear of heat and fire. Their solutions for such, depending on the situation, are to either take out the heat source, or run. Large traveling groups generally bring torches with them in order to prevent attacks by Frost Boars.
Abilities
In accordance with their frozen blood, they have a few natural abilities that are thought to be side effects of the Mana Stream influencing their creation. Firstly, they are able to manage complete camouflage while within a snowy environment, so long as there is at least six inches of snow on the ground. Their bodies burrow into the snow in such a way where it’s almost impossible for one to tell they are hiding. In addition to this, so long as a Boar is hidden, they are able to shift through the snow silently, like a teleport, to erupt out of a different spot. Finally, the tusks of these magnificent hunters are able to cause frostbite much quicker than natural ice can. With just a few emotes of constant contact, an area will become frostbitten by the Boar. Though, this is only possible due to their freezing blood, so a removed tusk will quickly melt and become normal ice.Redlines:
- Frost Boars are considered normal boars, though they are pure white and are a bit smarter.
- Frost Boars are completely immune to the cold, though they are vulnerable to fire and heat. Both of these tend to drive them away. Though, they also deal twice the amount of damage to Frost Boars as they would a normal victim.
- Frost Boars cannot use their snow traveling, “teleporting”, to go through things. There must be a clear path from where they start and where they appear. This is only able to be done if they are currently camouflaged.
- Upon ending their snow travel, a Boar is launched from the snow, forced into attacking whatever may be near them.
- Frost Boars can appear completely hidden so long as there is six inches of snow on the ground and they are actively attempting to camouflage themselves.
- It takes at least [2] emotes of contact with a tusk to induce minor frostbite. Further contact increases the damage of the frostbite.
- Frost Boar tusks start to melt once removed from the body, or if the boar is killed. They will also instantly lose their frostbite ability.
- Frost Boar blood can be used as a coolant, though it has no effect on people.
- Frost Boars may be used by Players and ET alike for events. They cannot be tamed.
