Section 2: Roleplay Questions
1.In order to ensure fair and proper roleplay there are a few terms we’d like you to be aware of. For each term, define the term and give an example where it may apply:
- Metagaming:
Metagaming is the often frowned upon method of using out of game/character information to gain favour or insight in a particular instance.
For example, Mme Luizetta Stevens has become pregnant out of wedlock and has confided in Mr. Clavicus Holt.
Luizetta's player had shared this information with me out of character and I then decide to confront her as my character Safiya, about this secret she only shared with Clavicus.
- Powergaming:
It is often defined as the following:1. Gaining an advantage in an RP scenario through abusing mechanics would be using the game’s bugs and constraints to have a more favourable outcome for your situation, like using unloaded chunks to see under the earth, using map mods to specifically avoid confrontation, etc.
2. Diverting from your character's physical traits or personality: If I’m playing an elderly character with a tricky knee and needing a knee replacement, I would be powergaming if I suddenly had super speed and strength! Or if I were a newcomer to the city and suddenly have in-depth knowledge of the city’s sewer system. It could also be considered Powergaming if your character is flawless, impervious to any mortal wound, or the like.
3. Using RP to give the other players involved no opportunity to interact or defend themselves: Ah yes, the dreaded one-sided RP: this can be in cases such as “/me stabs Borroughs in the gut” as opposed to “/me steps forward with the intention of stabbing Borroughs in the gut” or even /me grabs Borroughs’ face and kisses them” as opposed to “/me leans in for a kiss” (Consent is important, friends!)
Another case would be if one would decide the actions and/or responses of another player’s character.

1.What is your character’s name, age, race, and gender?
Safiya (Safi to her friends), 28, Kobold (Al-Miraj), Female
2.In a few short sentences, please describe both your character’s physical appearance (Height, Hair Colour, Eye Colour, etc.) and their personality (ie. their temperament and core motivations).
Safi stands at around 4 ft if she stands straight and maybe lengthens her neck just a weeee bit to appear taller. Her fur is a warm cocoa that fades into a soft cream at her muzzle, paws, and ears which she tends to tuck into several folds of fabric to protect from her native harsh desert climate. As a Miraj, she has a singular, spiral-like horn that grows out of her forehead. While it has no magical properties, Miraj horns glow, almost sparkle in direct moonlight and if they catch desert winds just right, their horns play haunting melodies across the sands.
Safiya is a curious Kobold and has an affinity to herbs and medicine though she could certainly work on her bedside manner—she hasn’t had much practice speaking to anyone outside her inner circle so she absolutely has a tendency to inadvertently insert her foot in her mouth with her pressing but naive questions.
(Regarding my making a CA for her to be a Miraj, I’m having some trouble accessing that section of the forum for the moment, I’ll be making a ticket in the morning in order to do it properly! Thank you so much for your time, patience, and understanding!)
