The Axoleech

Behavior:
These creatures have a long history of evolution. Though they look like eels, they descended from the Caecilian, a type of amphibian that burrows through the ground. The Axoleech finds a spot in a place that is surrounded by many insects and small rodents. While harmless to humanoids, they devour their prey by awaiting an insect to fly nearby, using bio-mimicry to look as if they were just a plant!
When an Axoleech is approached by any creature larger than itself, it quickly retreats back into its burrow. Each burrow will last an Axoleech as long as there is an ample source of food nearby. Some Axoleech have been known to hide in trees to consume birds. They’re also amphibious, able to stay in the water without air for several hours at a time.
Physical Appearance:
The Axoleech are small creatures, no wider around than a baseball bat, however, they can grow up to five feet long! They have frills similar to feathers or axolotl frills, and scales that shimmer in the light like a fish. Axoleeches come in a variety of colors, but are most commonly the color of the surroundings it was born in.
Axoleeches are found everywhere, but typically within the Fae Forests, cleaning the fur-people from their insect burdens.
~ Axoleeches are able to be tamed, and can be freely RP’d.
~ While a bite may hurt, it will never be enough to harm anyone long term or cause a wound.
~ This creature is Common.
