The Aqua Blessed - Ztrog - 07-04-2024 The Aqua Blessed The Sea Elves The Aqua Blessed, or better known to the wider masses of the world as the Sea Elves are a subspecies of elves as a whole. They have been forged by conflict, trials, and many tribulations due to them living life under the water for most of their existence. This has led to the Sea Elves being a far more paranoid race than most, though not necessarily automatically aggressive to strangers and other races. But this has made them have a sowed distrust of any being not of their own. Due to being a sea-thriving race, they have the natural ability to communicate with one another underwater using Nautical Telepathy. Appearance The Aqua Blessed are typically seen in cool shades of coloration to their flesh. Most naturally have gills forming on them due to their habitat though this is not always the case. Additionally, scales typically form along their skin like birthmarks, creating various designs and markings. These scaled birthmarks often are passed down through generations but can change from generation to generation. It is safe to say many Aqua Blessed take on some features of sea life, some even having fish-like tails grow from their hindquarters. Being ones from the depths of the oceans, Aqua Blessed can vary in size and coloration depending where they live. If an Aqua Blessed lives within the deeper parts of the Ocean they may be more stocky and have darker skin tones. While if one lives in a coral reef they would be more slim and have lighter tones of skin. This means that the Sea Elves height range goes from 4’5”-6’5”  with the more shallow Aqua Blessed being on the smaller side. Culture Due to living in the chaotic depths of the oceanic floor, the Sea Elves have dealt with much carnage and violence from the creatures of the deep and the ocean itself at times. This has made the Sea Elves natural hunters and warriors who will not stray from violence if it is needed. This typically is seen as a last resort, however making threats of such is not unusual if they are communicating with whom they see as a threat to them or their people. Most tools and weapons they craft for such a purpose are made out of obsidian rock and teeth and other parts of a sea creature whom they hunted.  Tools themselves are seen to be very sacred to a Sea Elf, as they are what have aided them in their survival from the beginning, and seen as what ideas were even blessed upon them by the Goddess of Order, her very manifestation. When these tools have become defunct or broken instead of tossing such a way they do something more. The Aqua Blessed will fashion these old tools in pieces of clothing, or more minor tools. Or depending on the tool and its use beforehand it would even become a sort of religious icon for their people to use in praise to the dual gods.  In their religious foundations, it was no question who it would be to lead the Aqua Blessed. The first of the Matrons of the Seas was the very one to be gifted the knowledge of the foundling tools. The very icons that drive their people to this very day. Both doubling as a religious leader and the leader of all Sea Elves, the Matron is believed to be chosen by the gods themselves. By Divine Right, are they seen to be the savior to all the struggles that they may face under the depths of the ocean? The first Matron’s words resonate with the modern day; “Embrace the struggle, for within it, the seeds of triumph are sown.” And it is through such tribulations that the Aqua Blessed survive and thrive.  Religious Beliefs In their time of survival, the Aqua Blessed gained much religious practice, these practices seeming to alter their entire lives as they dictate much of their entire peoples to them. Due to the death and carnage that they become accustomed to under the depth, they praise the God of Death. The Grand Jellyfish, as he is often depicted by them. Ushering those who have fallen into the Greater Seas of what they believe to be the afterlife that awaits all within the seas. The Greater Seas is a landscape, grandiose halls of aquatic stone and creatures who hold no violence in their hearts any longer. However, if one were to die whilst in combat, dying without any fear in their very soul they would be treated to a much more grand fate. They would find themselves now residing within the most holy waters, The Hollowed Citadel, a grand structure of beautiful aquatic stone and grand feasting halls far as the eye could see, pure paradise. While those who do die normally are not seen to have much service in death by the living. The ones who die by combat are honored among all of their living kin, oftentimes holding a Grand Feast to celebrate them.  The Goddess of Order, the Narwhal of Purity is most revered by the Aqua Blessed, almost much as they praise the Lord of Death. As all death is seen as part of the maintained cycle of order. For there can be no death without order in its inner workings. The Orderly Mistress is seen as one of the very patrons of the Sea Elves, being the originator of the tools they hold so dear to their society. This also means they wish to keep most impurities out from their waters, such as trash, and tainted water due to magic or otherwise. In other reverence for her, the Sea Elves often take to arts and crafts. They use their skillful work and dedicate it to her finding the most beautiful forms to be due to her mere presence. Through either blessing of the gods, or by naturally forming such on their bodies from living in the ocean. The Aqua Blessed had gained a specialty language upon their kin. This being not any spoken language, but a telepathic form of communication. Most unknown how this had even developed in the first place a vibration like echo will leave the very mind of the Aqua Blessed giving an open telepathic link with all who can enact such a feat as well.  Redlines - Sea elves can be no taller than 6’5” and no smaller than 4’5” in height. - The Nautical Telepath passes down to children, including hybrids along with their ability to breathe underwater. - No matter what aquatic-themed appearance an Aqua Blessed has in line with their traits none of them will give a combative advantage. - The Aqua Blessed will only have teeth strength the same as any other elven race, and will never have sharp teeth. only the typical human-like teeth as any other elf.  - Tails of the Sea Elves do not replace their legs, it is simply a fish-like tail at their hindquarters. - They are not mermaids.
